Marshall Islands: The Bikini Atoll
The Marshall Destinations are composed of twenty eight atolls and five island destinations. An atoll is a round or oblong shaped fossil fuel reef destinations that encircle a short lagoon. It is located in the Pacific Ocean and is also part of Micronesia (McGinley).
Initially discovered by Spanish in the 1600's, the hawaiian islands were mainly used for its natural resources, specifically copra olive oil found in coconuts. Despite these types of trade cable connections, the native Bikinians continued to be very separated and would not maintain exposure to the Spanish. Their lives were extremely interwoven and their social structure was restricted knit. They'd integrated prolonged families and complex customs passed down via generation to generation. Inside the early 1900's the Japanese began to govern Swimsuit. During Ww ii the Japanese had been afraid of American invasion of the Marshall Destinations. Therefore a watchtower was constructed on Bikini to protect against the People in america and it also offered as an outpost intended for Japanese armed service headquarters who had been stationed in the Kwajalein Atoll. In early 1944, the Us citizens captured Kwajelein, and overtook Japanese power over the Marshall Islands (Radiological Conditions in Bikini Atoll and the Prospects of Resettlement).
After WORLD WAR II, American president Harry Truman issued a statement declaring that American warships, equipment, and material had been in need of assessment to determine the effects of nuclear chemicals. Because of Sting bikini Island's isolation, it was selected as the nuclear screening ground. In February 1946 Commodore Bill Wyatt, the military governor of the Marshall, traveled to Swimwear to discuss non permanent relocation while using 167 Bikinians. King Juda, leader of the Bikinians, unwillingly agreed. The Bikinians were relocated 125 miles east to Ronjerik Atoll.
